A P2,000 across-the-board increase has been approved as compensation for teachers and other poll workers serving in the May 12 National and Local Elections (NLE), the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said May 9.
“As directed by President Bongbong Marcos, our teachers and poll workers will receive a P2,000 across the board increase on their compensation for the 2025 midterm elections,” DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said in a statement.
With the increase, the new honoraria rates for those in the Electoral Board are P12,000 from the previous P10,000 for the chairperson; P11,000 from the previous P9,000 for the poll clerk; P11,000 from P9,000 for the 3rd member; and, P8,000 from P6,000 for the support staff.
Pangandaman appealed to concerned agencies to ensure the timely release of higher compensation for teachers and poll workers this coming NLE.
“I urge Comelec to ensure that our teachers and poll workers will get their compensation as quickly as possible. Dapat timely ang release ng kanilang benepisyo. They deserve nothing less,” she stressed.
The budgetary requirement for the poll workers’ compensation and, as authorized under the 2025 General Appropriations Act, is P7.480 billion. The Comelec has estimated the total number of poll workers this NLE at 758,549.
As per the Election Service Reform Act and Comelec Resolution 10194, persons rendering election service shall be entitled to honoraria, travel allowance, communication allowance, meal allowance, and service credit. | CGC
