Teacher, nurse die in Cadiz road crash

A nurse and a teacher died after they were ran over by a Mitsubishi cargo truck on Friday (Nov. 20) in Barangay Caduha-an, Cadiz City.

The victims were idetified by the Cadiz police as John Eurich Depasupil, a 28-year-old teacher assigned at the Vicente Patricio Memorial Elementary School in Barangay Magsaysay, Cadiz City and John Paul Ladrillo, a 30-year-old nurse assigned at the Cadiz District Hospital.

Initial police investigations showed that Ladrillo, who was driving a Yamaha Mio motorcycle, with Depasupil as the back rider, tried to overtake a cargo truck hauler driven by Mario Mendevel. Both were running from south to north direction.

Both victims were ran over by the cargo truck after the motorcycle fell on the road, investigations of the Cadiz police showed.

Ladrillo died on the spot, while Depasupil was declared dead on arrival at the Cadiz District Hospital, where he was brought by an ambulance of Toboso town.

Lt. Col. Robert Mansueto, Cadiz City police chief, said that Bendevel, 47, of Brgy. Malasibog, Escalante City, is now detained at the Cadiz City police custodial facility. – GB
