Tan to run for councilor, talks with Team Albee

Former Bacolod City Councilor Ricardo “Cano” Tan confirmed on Tuesday, Aug. 24, that he will run for councilor in next year’s elections under the ticket of former Negros Occidental 3rd District congressman Alfredo “Albee” Benitez.

Tan said he decided to re-join local politics to continue serving the people of Bacolod after he was subjected to false accusations and fake news.

He added that he already had “talks” with the Team Albee and he has conducted pocket meetings with his campaign leaders.

Tan was a City Councilor of Bacolod from 1995 to 2001. During the administration of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, he was appointed as Director for the Manila Airport Development Authority.

Tan was also appointed as Assistant Secretary of the Department of Transportation and Communication in 2004 up to 2007 before serving as Director of LTO –NCR from 2007 to 2009.

He lost his bid for congress in 2010 but was elected No. 1 councilor of Bacolod City in 2016.

Tan, and wife Nita, survived an ambushed in 2018. – MML
