Talisay City in Negros Occidental will soon build a 25-bed hospital on a one-hectare lot in Barangay Zone 12-A, donated by the family of Mayor Rowena Lopez-Lizares.

Lopez-Lizares, on behalf of the city government, signed Jan. 29 the deed of donation (DOD) with her mother Dolores Lopez, chief executive officer of Carmela Valley Agricultural Corp./HDL Construction Corp.

The establishment of a city hospital was pushed by the mayor’s husband, former mayor Neil Lizares, and was also her own campaign promise.

“This is just a first step,” Lopez-Lizares said, adding that she hopes the construction will commence before 2028.

The mayor said they will seek help from public personalities to fund the construction while also entertaining the possibility of securing loans from financial institutions, after the Department of Health gave its concurrence on the establishment of a hospital for Talisaynons.

She encouraged her constituents to register with the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. as it will help them in their future medical expenses.

“The hospital project is anchored on the long-felt need of the people of Talisay for accessible and quality healthcare,” the mayor said. | GB
