Talisay resident shot dead in Ilog

A man who was abducted was reported to have been summarily executed in Barangay Dancalan, Ilog, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, May 27.

The fatality, a 23-year-old laborer from Hacienda Manaol, Barangay Matab-ang, Talisay City, succumbed to a gunshot injury in the back of his head, according to the police.

Initial investigation of the Ilog Municipal Police Station showed the victim and his 24-year- cousin, known only as “Niko”, a resident of Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City, were forcibly brought inside a white van with their hands tied behind them.

The reported abduction took place after the victim and his cousin, who came from Bacolod City, disembarked from a Ceres Liner passenger bus in Kabankalan City.

They were brought by the suspects to Barangay Dancalan in Ilog, where they were dragged outside of the vehicle, police investigation further indicated.

One of the suspects shot the 23-year-old laborer in the head while “Niko”, who was ordered by their abductors to run, managed to escape while being shot.

He was able to seek help from residents in the area while the suspects fled towards the north direction on board the white van.

The laborer, who was brought to the Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital, was declared dead on arrival at the medical facility, the police said. | GB
