Talisay honors top taxpayers

The Talisay City government honored its outstanding residents and taxpayers for 2024 during the celebration of its 27th charter day anniversary yesterday.

The recipients for the Talisaynon Awards were Health Undersecretary Dr. Mary Ann

Palermo Maestral in the field of Government Service; Antonio Montinola, Community Development and Philantrophy; and Nature’s Village Resort, Sustainable Tourism.

Mayor Neil Lizares was assisted by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and members of the Talisay City Council in the distribution of Pasidungog Awards in a ceremony held at the Nature’s Village Resort.

Special citations were also given to Joshua Mark Sabio, winner of the Ms. Curvy Universe Trans 2024 crown in New Delhi, India; Niele Shem Bañas, who ranked number one in the 2024 Electronics Engineering Licensure and Electronics Technician Licensure Examination; and Patricia Mae Maglaque, who placed seventh in the 2024 Licensure Examination for Teachers.

In his speech, Lizares honored the outstanding Talisaynons, individuals and businesses, who have exemplified excellence, dedication, and service to the community.

He added that the Pasidungog Awards is more than just a recognition, it is a testament to the unwavering commitment of Talisaynons who continuously strive for progress, inspire others, and contribute to the betterment of Talisay City.

“Your achievements serve as a beacon of hope and motivation to the next generation. You have shown that with perseverance, integrity, and passion, greatness is within reach,” the mayor told the awardees.

Lizares also said the commitment of the top taxpayer awardees to civic responsibility enables the city government to build better infrastructure, provide quality services, and create opportunities for all its residents.

“Your support fuels the engine of our local economy, allowing us to dream bigger and achieve greater heights as one progressive community and inspires us to achieve all the awards and recognitions, including the most coveted Seal of Good Local Governance for three consecutive years,” he added.

Lacson also congratulated Lizares for a job well done, being the mayor whose leadership catapulted Talisay City to what it is now in terms of growth and development.

“Your dedication to public service and your efforts to improve the quality of life for your fellow Talisaynons are commendable,” the governor said. 

Lacson also lauded the outstanding taxpayers, saying: “Your dutiful and consistent fulfillment of your tax duties is proof not just of your adherence to an obligation, but also your commitment to the social contract between the government and its citizens”. | GB
