Suspect injured in armed confrontation with police

A man, who traded shots with his police captors, was injured and arrested at Purok Balinday in Barangay 2, Bacolod City midnight on June 3.

Jojo Arnaiz, 37, yielded a Colt automatic caliber .45 pistol and a fragmentation grenade.

The police responded to reports that a person was in possession of a firearm inside a computer shop in the place.

When he noticed the presence of policemen, Arnaiz tried to escape while firing his gun at the pursuing lawmen.

The injured suspect was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment.

The police also recovered fired cartridges of caliber .45 and 9 mm pistols and seven live ammunition at the crime scene.

Arnaiz is facing charges for illegal possession of firearms and explosives as well as violation of the Commission on Elections gun ban, PMaj. Eugene Tolentino, Police Station 2 commander, said. | GB
