Suspect in slay of 3 Army men apprehended

An alleged member of the New People’s Army, linked to the ambush-slay of an Army officer and two others, was apprehended Feb. 24 by virtue of arrest warrants for three counts of homicide at Purok 1 in Barangay Carabalan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.

Nabbed by the combined operatives of the Himamaylan City Police Station, 94th Infantry Battalion and 32nd Military Intelligence Company was Dexter Almuete, an alleged member of the Central Negros 2 Sentro de Grabidad Platoon of the NPA.

Lt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office-6, said on Friday, Feb. 26, that Himamaylan Regional Trial Court Judge Walter Zorilla, who issued the arrest warrants against Almuerte, a laborer, recommended a bail of P360,000 for the three homicide cases.

Malong said Almuete was involved in the ambush and killing of 2nd Lt. Ralf Amante Abibico, Private First Class Carl Venice Bustamante and Corporal Joel Nobleza, all members of 94th Infantry Battalion, on April 19, 2020 in Sitio Tugas, Barangay Carabalan, Himamaylan City. – GB
