Studying is part of our lives. The moment we were born into this world, we began to study. Actually, we are all students for life.

One of the most important books that we need to study again and again is the Bible. If we believe that the Bible is the Word of God and has the authority in matters of faith and practice, then we should continue to study it.

Here are some important things to remember when we STUDY the Bible:

S – Search the Scriptures

John 5:39 says, “You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me…” This means that we should read the Bible regularly and search for the truth that it contains. We should not just read it casually, but we should study it carefully and diligently.

T – Take time to meditate on God’s Word

Psalm 1:1a-2 says, “Blessed is the one…whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.” This means that we should take time to think deeply about what we have read in the Bible. We should reflect on its meaning and how it applies to our lives.

U – Understand the meaning of the text

Nehemiah 8:8 says, “They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people understood what was being read.” This means that we should seek to understand the context of the passage we are reading. We should also try to understand the original meaning of the text and how it applies to us today.

D – Delight in the Word of God

Psalm 119:16 says, “I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.” This means that we should take pleasure in reading and studying the Bible. We should not view it as a chore or a duty, but as a source of joy and delight.

Y – Yield to the guidance of the Holy Spirit

John 16:13 says, “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” This means that we should rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us as we study the Bible. We should pray for wisdom and understanding, and ask the Holy Spirit to help us apply what we have learned to our lives.

Let us continue to study the Bible and obey the commands of God. – NWI
