The next presidents of the Liga ng mga Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation of Negros Occidental are expected to still come from the cities of San Carlos and Victorias, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said yesterday.

“From my discussions with Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, we would like to maintain the status quo,” he said.

Lacson added that he will discuss with San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo who he would like to recommend.

“We want to make sure that we have the right person, who can really represent the SK Federation. I will ask him if there is any SK official now in San Carlos who can fill the shoes of Board Member Pocholo Yuvienco,” he said.

Lacson said that Yuvienco “did a good job” during his term.

Succeeding him, Mayvelyn Madrid of Barangay 5 has been elected president of San Carlos City SK Federation.

Gustilo said that Madrid will be recommended to be elected provincial SK Federation president.

The election of provincial SK Federation officers should be held not later than Nov. 29, as prescribed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

Lacson noted that outgoing provincial Liga ng mga Barangay president Juvy Pepello of Barangay 9, Victorias City is also about to finish her term.

He said that Victorias City has already made a choice for her replacement.

Both Yuvienco and Pepello are allied with Love Negros, where Lacson is among the stalwarts. | GB
