The Social Security System (SSS) provided services to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families during the Migrant Fair held at the SMX Convention Center, SM City Bacolod, recently.
In line with the SSS digitalization efforts, SSS vice president for Visayas West 1, Dr. Lilani Benedian, presented the value of active membership of OFW members which equates to the benefits and privileges that they can avail of in times of contingencies. She also shared the e-Center projects, in partnership with local government units and employers.
“With this year’s 66th anniversary theme “Serbisyong Mapagkakatiwalaan, Proteksyong Maasahan”, the SSS is not only improving its online facilities but also making digital services more accessible to members, especially those in remote communities and overseas,” Benedian said.
She said in a press statement Dec. 13 that the OFWs’ active SSS membership ensures social security in times of contingencies, like in the case of Loreta Alacre, of Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, who recently died in the Hamas-Israel conflict, and the tragic death of Jullebee Ranara in Kuwait, her rightful beneficiaries received benefits due from the SSS.
Aside from updating the participants on SSS programs for OFWs, SSS Bacolod and International Operations Group brought eWheels to the event venue to provide various services, such as the My.SSS Account password resetting, Payment Reference Number (PRN) generation, verification of contribution and loan records, and member data change requests.
At the end of the event, SSS has successfully processed 220 transactions on-site. ||
