Malacañang has declared June 13, Thursday, as special nonworking day in Silay City, Negros Occidental, in line with its 67th Charter anniversary celebration.
Proclamation No. 551, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, states that the City of Silay is celebrating its annual fiesta celebration and cultural activities from June 3 to 13.
On June 13, Silay will mark the culmination of such momentous celebration…and it is but fitting and proper that the people be given full opportunity to participate and enjoy the celebration, Bersamin said.
This year’s Kansilay Festival of the city started June 1, with the Charter Day grand parade, street and arena dance performances, and fireworks display on Independence Day, June 12, which is a national holiday.
The Sayaw Hugyaw Kansilay dance fitness, dance sport competition, basketball exhibition game, and Kapuso Fiesta will be held tomorrow, June 11, while the Lin-ay sang Silay grand coronation was ongoing, as of press time. | CGC
