The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) of Bacolod has approved Nov. 6 the request of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) to close the stretch of North Capitol Road, beside the Capitol Park and Lagoon, from Nov. 18 to 24.

OPA officer-in-charge Dina Genzola, in her letter to the SP, said that the provincial government of Negros Occidental is set to hold the 17th Negros Island Organic Farmers Festival and the 2nd Slow Food Terra Madre-Visayas at the Capitol grounds on Nov. 19 to 23, hence the request.

The road closure, that will start at 6 a.m. of Nov. 18 to 3 p.m. of Nov. 24, would pave the way for the installation of organic kiosks and a temporary stage, Genzola added.

Councilor Jason Villarosa, chairperson of the SP Committee on Tourism, told his colleagues that the two activities are expected to help stimulate the economy and tourism, not only of the province, but also of the highly-urbanized city. | CGC
