The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod has commended first Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) female pilot, Christine Pauline Bergaño-Diciano, for her promotion as commodore and as director of the PCG Leadership and Doctrine Development Center.

Bergaño-Diciano, of Barangay Sum-ag in Bacolod, brings pride and prestige to the city for her outstanding achievements in public service and leadership, Councilor Thaddy Sayson said in his resolution of commendation approved by the SP May 28.

Bergaño-Diciano, at the donning and oathtaking ceremony May 20 when she received her first star, shared some milestones in her PCG journey, particularly on how she overcame the challenges through the support of her family and colleagues, and the lessons she acquired along the way, the PCG said.

“Learning is only real if it drives action and evolution as change is the end result of all the true learning,” she was quoted as saying. “There is no service so small. So, in all chances, choices, and changes, own it.”

“In all blessings and miracles, I will remember my core and serve. Like everyone, we are here with everything, and with all entrustments from God,” she said.

Bergaño-Diciano is the eldest of the two children of Dominador Guzon Bergaño Jr., a retired Navy and CG enlisted man, and his late wife, Lilia, a nurse.

A working and consistent honor student, she earned her Computer Science degree from the University of St. La Salle.

She told Negros Weekly last year: “This life is truly a miracle as it is a precious and fragile gift. What better way to find its purpose but to be of service to others”. | CGC
