The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod has approved the request of Sum-ag punong barangay Rodney Carmona for a special permit to operate carnival rides and parlor games (peryahan) at the St. John Nepomuceno Parish grounds from Nov. 17-23, in line with the 22nd Martesan Festival of the barangay.

Carmona, in his letter to Mayor Alfredo Benitez, through the SP, said “the carnival will foster community spirit and contribute positively to our local economy.”

Barangay Resolution 2024-11-229 states that proceeds will go to the Barangay Sum-ag Rescue Unit, and that peryahan operators “will strictly implement the curfew for minors, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.”

The carnival operators must secure all necessary permits from the local government and comply with safety regulations, as mandated by law, as well as ensure cleanliness and proper waste disposal, the resolution said.

The barangay, on the other hand, will coordinate with the police to ensure peace and order during the carnival operation, and that tanods will be assigned to assist in maintaining safety. | CGC
