On March 30, thousands of families, advocates, and supporters will gather to celebrate Happy Walk 2025, a nationwide event promoting awareness and inclusion for individuals with Down syndrome.
Organized by SM Cares, in partnership with the Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines Inc. (DSAPI), this year’s Happy Walk will be held simultaneously at SMX Convention Center in Manila, SM City Cebu, SM City Bacolod, and SM CDO Downtown Premier.
For over two decades, Happy Walk has been more than just a walk—it is a movement that celebrates the talents and contributions of people with Down syndrome. The event aims to foster understanding, acceptance, and equal opportunities for all.

“Happy Walk is not just about taking steps; it’s about making a difference,” said Nill Patrick Arroyo, DSAPI board member and head of Happy Walk 2025. “It is a celebration of abilities, not limitations, and a reminder that everyone deserves the same opportunities and support.”
This year’s theme, “321 & Beyond”, reflects a commitment to raising awareness at every opportunity, even beyond the walk, the mall management said in a press release, adding the event will feature performances, inspirational stories, and community activities that highlight the importance of inclusion.
“SM Cares is proud to support Happy Walk because we believe in creating a society where everyone feels valued and included,” Engr. Bien Mateo, SM Cares program director for Disability Affairs, said.
Aside from the nationwide event, the parent support group in Bacolod City for children with Down syndrome will also launch a Happy Photo Exhibit on World Down Syndrome Day on March 21.
The collection of curated photos of kids and young adults with the syndrome aims to convey to the mall’s patrons what other special abilities and talents they have, and that like any other person, they long for inclusion and acceptance.
Individuals and organizations are encouraged to participate by walking, volunteering, or supporting the cause. To register and learn more about Happy Walk 2025, follow SM Cares on social media. ||
