Member-consumers of the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative will be paying this billing month P14.4609 each kilowatt-hour of electricity consumed, from the P14.1503/kWh rate in October.

The slight increase was attributed to the upward adjustments in the generation charges of power suppliers, ancillary service, and the traded electricity in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market, Noneco said in an advisory Nov. 21.

The distribution utility is the latest to announce a power rate hike in Bacolod and Negros Occidental this billing month.

On Nov. 19, Negros Power said that its average residential rate increased by P0.94/kWh, or P12.01 from P11.0674/kWh last month.

The highest increment was announced by the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative last week, at P2.1257/kWh.

Residential consumers served by Noceco will pay P15.0388/kWh, from the P12.9131/kWh rate in October.

The increase was “primarily driven by higher generation charges due to significant price hikes in the WESM,” Noceco had said in an advisory. | CGC
