The family of the late Rolito Tanillo, an alleged member of the New People’s Army linked to an arson incident, received financial assistance from the municipal government of La Libertad in Negros Oriental.

In a statement, the Army’s 62nd Infantry Battalion said that the P10,000 financial assistance was extended by the Municipal Task Force ELCAC to Jerlyn Manait, live-in partner of Tanillo, who died in an encounter with Army soldiers Feb. 10 at Crossing Lansang, Brgy. Talaon, La Libertad.

An M14 assault rifle was also recovered at the encounter site.

Tanillo was believed to be among the remnants of the dismantled Central Negros (Front) 1, linked to the burning of two backhoes, a payloader, and a dump truck of a construction company contracted to build a farm-to-market road in Brgy. Aya, La Libertad town. | GB
