The help of the National Bureau of Investigation is being sought to identify the culprits behind the hacking of the official Facebook page account of Sipalay City Mayor Gina Montilla-Lizares.

The hacker was reported to be soliciting money.

Sipalay is among the local government units in southern Negros devastated by Typhoon Odette.

The Sipalay City government said the Facebook account of Lizares was hacked Feb. 3, two days before the arrival of Vice President Leni Robredo, who led in the distribution of temporary shelter kits to 50 typhoon-affected families in Brgy. Gil Montilla.

The LGU urged the public to “disregard any communication or request from the Facebook account named “Gina Montilla” as it is currently being used by the hacker.

“Kindly confirm, report, and send us a screenshot of this particular Facebook account if you have received messages asking for money or donations,” it added.

Two persons reportedly sent P15,000 and P27,000./GB
