The Grupo Asenso Silay, headed by reelectionists Mayor Mark Golez and Vice Mayor Thomas Maynard Ledesma, filed their Certificates of Candidacy with the council slate Oct. 7.
Those running for councilor are incumbents Ryan Milos Romeo Gamboa, Edwin John Dennis Velez, Andrew John Penuela, Lyndon Bernardo, Ramon Celebre, Henry Belleza, Demetria Apla-on, and Antonio Duca Jr.
The newcomers are Guinhalaran Barangay Captain Jose Lopez Jr., and James Anthony Marie Golez.
The team will run under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) party, Golez said on his Facebook post.
Also in attendance to show support to the Grupo Asenso Silay were Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and 3rd District Congressman Jose Franciso “Kiko” Benitez.
Golez also iterated their support to the call for Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to run for president, despite her filing of her COC for re-election.
Meanwhile, Board Member Rita Gatuslao also filed her COC yesterday, for reelection as a representative of the 5th District in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental.
Patrick Miguel Montilla, brother of the late Isabela Mayor Enrique Montilla, also filed his CoC as an independent candidate for board member of the province in the 5th District.
Ambulant vendor Junee Occida also joined the provincial board member race in the 3rd District and filed his CoC yesterday at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City. –| NND
