“Serve with integrity and have a solemn commitment to represent the voice of the people”.
This was stressed yesterday by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson to the newly-elected barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials of Cadiz City.
Lacson and Second District Rep. Alfredo Maranon III administered the mass oathtaking of the barangay and SK chairpersons while Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. sworn in the barangay and SK kagawads in rites held at the Cadiz Arena.
“Serve your fellow Negrenses not just with dedication, and sense of duty, but also with integrity,” the governor added.
He also reminded the barangay and SK officials that the assumption of public office is beyond mere administrative tasks.
“Thus, starting today, please, perform,” Escalante echoed the call of the governor.
Lacson further asked them to take good care of the trust and confidence of the people that elected them.
Maranon also challenged the barangay and SK officials not just to serve, but to also lead with integrity, transparency and inclusivity.
“Serve to the best of your ability, and I will support you,” he added.
Department of the Interior Local Government Cadiz City head Shalimar Nicor advised them to always remember that “a public office is a public trust.” | GB
