A public school principal died at a private hospital in Bacolod City on July 31, three days after he fell off the roof of a school building in Barangay Guinpanaan, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.
The death of Reynaldo Mojares, the principal of Guinpana-an Elementary School, at the Riverside Medical Center was confirmed by his former student, Moises Padilla Vice Mayor Ian Villaflor.
Treated at the intensive care unit since Sunday, Mojares was in a critical condition after the fall.
On July 28, a day before the opening of classes, he went up the roof to remove the leaves that have piled up.
He slipped while going down the ladder and suffered head injuries, according to Ian Arnold Arnaez, the spokesman of the Department of Education-Division of Negros Occidental.
Mojares is nearing retirement already, he said. | GB
