The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod presented its resolution of commendation Wednesday to Fred Louie Donguez, for being recognized and awarded as the Most Outstanding Student Leader of the Philippines, at the 3rd International Convention in Student Affairs and Services in Baguio City last month.
Donguez, of Barangay Bata, and a student-leader of the University of St. La Salle, was recognized “for exemplary dedication to improve the students’ welfare” in his university.
The SP, in a resolution authored by Councilor Jayson Villarosa and passed Oct. 25, said “this achievement will undoubtedly set the tone that Bacolod City has for its citizens competent and dedicated individuals capable of inspiring others to promote student welfare, academic excellence, and social responsibility”.
Donguez said at the SP regular session this afternoon, Nov. 15, that “to be acknowledged among such exceptional individuals is both humbling and inspiring.”
He thanked the sanggunian “for recognizing the efforts of youth leaders in the city and for giving me the platform to share my success, my story, and my advocacy” on the rights and welfare of stray dogs and cats.
“My experience as a student leader was never easy, how much more with being recognized as the 2023 Outstanding Student Leader of the Philippines. It was full of challenges and lessons,” Donguez said as he thanked his family, friends, fellow students and all supporters for their encouragement and confidence in him.
Donguez was among the participants in a countrywide convention attended by well-known universities at Teachers’ Camp, Baguio City, Oct. 1. His award was presented by the Transforming Advocates and Champions, a non-profit organization specializing in comprehensive development training, emphasizing transformational and purpose-driven leadership.
