San Carlos LGU donates vehicle to Army’s 79IB

The Philippine Army’ s 79th Infantry Battalion (IB) got a boost for its mobility operations  after it received a Toyota HiLux pick-up truck  from the city government of San Carlos in Negros Occidental.

The deed of donation for the P1.6-million vehicle was signed by Mayor Renato Gustilo and Lt. Col. Arnel Calaoagan, commander of 79IB, on Oct. 17.

Lt. Col. Arnel Calaoagan (right) and Capt. Michael Deaño (left) turned over a “lantip”, a traditional Negrense tool for harvesting sugarcane, to  Mayor Renato Gustilo as token of appreciation to the city’s support to the 79th Infantry Battalion.

The City Council supported the gesture of the city government by acknowledging the commitment of the 79IB to maintain the peace and security in the city.

Calaoagan said that the new vehicle would help them carry out their duties in the community.

He presented a “lantip”, which is a traditional Negrense tool for harvesting sugarcane, to Gustilo as a symbol of gratitude for the city government’s continuous support to the Philippine Army. | GB
