A Philippine Army soldier and a Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) member were shot to death by two men on a motorcycle in Sagay City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, May 12.
1Lt. Fevie Fajardo, civil-military operations officer of 79th Infantry Battalion, said the victims on board a motorcycle were shot on their way to a public in Sitio Kalubihan, Barangay Makiling.
They were identified as Corporal Robert Dador, 48, assistant detachment commander, and CAFGU member Johnery Mongcatar, 26, both assigned at a military outpost in Sitio Hwebesan, Barangay Celestino Villacin, Cadiz City.
Fajardo said they are not ruling out the possibility that the incident may have been insurgency-related although the assailants did not take anything from the victims.
Both were on duty when the shooting took place, she added.
The helmet-wearing attackers were reported to have been riding a black Aerox motorcycle.
The Philippine Army is coordinating with the Sagay City Police Station in identifying the identities of the suspects and determining the motive of the crime. | GB
