The Regional Inter-Agency Task Force in Western Visayas has approved the suspension of inbound travel of locally stranded individuals(LSIs) to Bacolod City, Hinobaan and La Castellana in Negros Occidental.
The request of the Bacolod Emergency Operations Center Task Force for a moratorium on the entry of LSIs in Bacolod City from December 21 to January 3, was approved by the RIATF 6 led by its chairperson, Juan Jovian Ingeniero in a resolution dated Dec. 8.
Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical data analysis and assessment of EOC-TF, said that this will give reprieve to the city’s health workers and enable the disinfection of the isolation facilities.
Starting Dec. 16 to Dec. 22, LSIs will not be also allowed to enter the municipality of Hinobaan, and from Dec. 22 to January 5 next year in La Castellana and Pontevedra, as approved also by RIATF.
On the other hand, the RIATF has yet to act on similar requests made by the municipalities of Manapla, Candoni, Moises Padilla and Valladolid.
The RIATF earlier approved the requested moratorium of the return of LSIs and Overseas Filipino Workers from Dec. 21 to Jan. 3, in cities of Himamaylan and Victorias, and the town of Calatrava, while the moratorium on the entry of LSIs to Cauayan will start on Dec. 20 until Jan. 3.
The concerned LGUs requested the suspension on arrival of LSIs into their respective areas, so they can disinfect, decongest their quarantine facilities, before receiving their returning incidents, and to allow their respective frontliners, to take a rest.
The RIATF also approved the request of the provincial government of Negros Occidental for a moratorium on LSI arrivals on Dec. 24, 25, and 31 and January 1, to give the health workers time to rest and celebrate the holidays.*GB
