The Land Transportation Office in Western Visayas will speed up the release of motor plates and enhance roadside inspections throughout the region.

This as LTO6 director, Atty. Gaudioso Geduspan II, hinted of the imminent rollout of the “No Plate, No Travel” policy in the coming weeks, reinforcing the administration’s resolve to curb unregistered vehicles on public roads.

“The strict enforcement of plate display regulations will not only aid law enforcement but will also contribute significantly to road discipline and public safety,” Geduspan stressed in a statement July 1.

Geduspan and assistant regional director Jeck Conlu have already instructed law enforcement officers and deputized personnel to both ramp up patrol operations and ensure that every vehicle on the road displays its license plate correctly.

“This campaign is part of our commitment to enhance road safety, ensure easy vehicle identification, and promote compliance with transportation regulations,” states the May 2 memorandum from LTO chief, Atty. Vigor Mendoza II, which invoked Section 18 of Republic Act 4136, or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code, requiring number plates to be prominently displayed at all times.

To fast‑track plate availability, the LTO6 has already released over 13,000 plates for tricycle‑for‑hire, and more than 200 plates for private motorcycle and tricycle owners.

Starting this month, the LTO6 New Registration Unit will also operate every Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., to assist private vehicle owners in claiming their plates.

Motorists are advised to bring their original Certificate of Registration (CR) and updated Official Receipt (OR), the LTO said and stressed the need for drivers to comply with registration requirements to avoid penalties and help build safer roads for all.

“We encourage all affected owners to visit our New Registration Unit—even on weekends—for a smoother and faster release of their plates,” Conlu said.

In tandem with physical distribution, LTO6 inspectors have been directed to promote the LTO Plate Tracker at https://ltotracker.com, an online tool that allows motorists to verify the status and availability of their plates in real time.

Field officers are also making use of roadside operations to demonstrate the system and assist users on the spot. ||
