Remnants of the New People’s Army (NPA) claimed responsibility for the killing of two civilians they accused as military and police informants in Toboso and La Castellana in Negros Occidental.
In a statement, the Roselyn Jean Pelle Command claimed responsibility for the death of Ramil Ramos on Jan. 7.
Investigation conducted by the Toboso Municipal Police Station showed that seven unidentified bonnet-wearing individuals were involved in the shooting at Sitio Mansiguibo in Barangay San Isidro.
The 30-year-old victim was brought by the assailants to an area about 20 meters away from his residence and shot him.
He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital due to multiple gunshot injuries.
The Leonardo Panaligan Command also claimed responsibility for the death of another civilian in Barangay Manghanoy, La Castellana on Jan. 5.
The victim, Rene Francisco, was linked by the rebel remnants to illegal activities aside from being an alleged asset of the La Castellana Municipal Police Station.
In a statement, Ka JB Regalado claimed the victim was meted death penalty by what he claims “people’s court” in December last year. | GB
