The Mt. Cansermon Command of the New People’s Army South Central Negros Guerilla Front has issued a statement claiming responsibility for the burning of two heavy equipment June 14 in Sitio Bulod, Brgy. Carabalan, Himamaylan City.

They said they did it after the owner of the equipment failed to pay revolutionary taxes.

Rebel spokesperson, Ka Dionesio Magbuelas, claimed that the owner of the ESJ construction firm ignored demands for revolutionary taxes, while operating in their area.

He also said that many complaints have been aired against the management for their failure to give the mandated salaries to their workers.

Estimated damage of the burned heavy equipment was placed by authorities at P7.5 million.

The arson coincided with the killing of four members of the Fausto family in Brgy. Buenavista, also in Himamaylan.

In September 2021, police records showed that rebels also burned a heavy equipment in the same place.

The national government is presently engaged in a road concreting program that will linked the hinterland barangays of Himamaylan City in Negros Occidental, to Tayasan, Negros Oriental./GB
