Re-elected Vice Mayor Mary Ann Mirasol of Binalbagan, Negros Occidental said yesterday that she is ready to work with returning Mayor Emmanuel Miranda for good governance and for the betterment of the town and its people.
Her husband, outgoing Mayor Alejandro Mirasol, lost to Aranda in the May 12 elections.
In the two previous elections, Aranda was defeated by Mirasol, whose term of office as mayor ends at noon of June 30.

The vice mayor said that the Municipal Council will not serve as obstructionist to the Aranda administration, stressing they have their respective functions as executive and legislative branches of the local government unit.
“We will work with him. But if he tries to do something fishy, I am sorry,” she said.
Mirasol and the five elected councilors of Binalbagan took their oath office before Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson at the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City.
Majority of the council members are allied with her, including the five councilors, as well as the representatives of the Liga ng mga Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan.
Mirasol admitted that she has entertained thoughts of retiring from politics, with her husband.
“But the people have given me another mandate. I will serve the people to the best of my ability, until the end of my term,” she said. | GB
