CPU will be celebrating Christ Emphasis Week on Oct. 18-25 with the theme “Quenched!”
This theme calls us to reflect on the living water that Jesus offers. We are in a world that often leaves us spiritually dry and searching, yet the promise of Christ is one of refreshing, abundant life.
How can we be quenched, satisfied, and restored through Him?
First, be quenched by believing in Christ.
John 7:38 says, “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
Jesus invites us to believe in Him, promising that when we do, rivers of living water will flow from within us. This living water is His Spirit — our source of eternal life and unending satisfaction.
The world offers many substitutes, but only Christ can quench the deep thirst of our souls.
Let us place our full trust in Jesus, allowing His Spirit to dwell in us and overflow to others. When we truly believe, He fills us beyond our own needs so that we can also be a blessing to others.
Second, be quenched by walking in God’s guidance.
Isaiah 58:11 says, “The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”
Isaiah reminds us that when we walk in God’s path, He will guide us even through the toughest times. We may feel like we are in a sun-scorched land, facing difficulties and uncertainties, but God promises that He will not only guide us but also provide for and strengthen us.
Seek God’s guidance daily, knowing that His path will lead us to places of refreshment. Even in dry seasons, we can be assured that He will sustain us, making us like a well-watered garden.
Third, be quenched by receiving Christ’s fulfillment.
John 4:13-14 says, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
In the conversation of Jesus with the Samaritan woman, He makes it clear that the water He gives brings ultimate satisfaction.
Worldly desires can never fully satisfy, but the life Jesus offers quenches our deepest longings. This water is a source that wells up into eternal life — offering peace, joy, and fulfillment.
Let us turn to Christ for true fulfillment. When we receive His living water, we experience the fullness of life — an eternal spring that not only quenches our thirst but also brings us into a deep, lasting relationship with God.
The theme “Quenched!” reminds us that true satisfaction comes from Christ alone. He is the source of living water, offering spiritual refreshment, guidance, and eternal fulfillment.
Let us believe in Him, walk in His ways, and receive the life He gives, knowing that in Him, we will never thirst again. | NWI
