The Bago City government, through its Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office, ended the three-day entrepreneurial and livelihood skills training, events make-up and hairstyling, for members of the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) via a fashion show at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum and Cultural Center July 4.
Fifty selected PYAP members from the 24 barangays of the city underwent the training from July 2-4, and the fashion show enabled participants to showcase their talents, and the skills they gained from the training.
Renowned Negrense makeup artist Carlos Durana Jr. was the resource person during the training, and also served as a judge at the fashion show.
The events makeup and hairstyling competition winners are, for Fresh Category – Domenick Gimeno, Gothic Category – Henry Finch Jr., Playful / Fun Category – Marie Cris Mustre, Glam Category – James Wang Mondido, and Fantasy / Drag Category – Rene Boy Caldeza.
Mayor Nicholas Yulo, in his message during the event, encouraged those involved in the activity to pursue their passion and hone their skills to give them an edge in the industry as it may eventually become their source of livelihood.
The local government, he added, is doing a whole-of-nation approach where all sectors in the city, including the events industry, are given the opportunity to develop and their members provided the chance to better their crafts, skills, and talents.
TLDC and PESO-Bago manager Judee Lynn Lirazan, who is also the CCO and LEDIPO designate, said in a city press release July 5 that the entrepreneurial skills training was aimed at motivating the participants and opening opportunities for them.
The city government is actively seeking venues to capacitate Bagonhons, she added.
Vice Mayor Ramon Torres, Negros Occidental 4th District Board Member Andrew Martin Torres, councilors Joy Matti, Jake Patrick Torres, Femmy Alvarez-Martir, and Victor Michael Javellana, and other city officials and department heads also attended the event. ||
