The 61 barangays of Bacolod City have been urged to purchase life-saving rescue equipment, supplies, and medicines as pre-disaster preparedness, as well as equipment, tools, and devices needed for post-disaster activities.

Councilor Israel Salanga, in a resolution approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod, stressed that to better prepare for calamities, it is best that each barangay has its own lifesaving rescue equipment, supplies, tools, devise, and medicines necessary for both pre-disaster preparedness and in the conduct of post-disaster activities.

These include first-aid kits, medicines, protective gears, generator sets, and chainsaws, he added.

Salanga, chairperson of the SP Committee on Social Services and Development, noted that Bacolod was recently hit by calamities or natural disasters, such as earthquakes and typhoons, which caused not only loss and damage to properties, but also resulted in injuries and loss of lives.

He stressed the importance of preparedness, equipment, and relief services and assistance, “during and in the aftermath of said disasters or calamities”. | CGC
