An alliance of concerned consumers in Bacolod City is calling for a public hearing on the “failure of Baciwa-PrimeWater to provide adequate and clean water supply.”

Lead convenor Wennie Sancho of the Alliance of Concerned Consumers in Electricity and Social Services (ACCESS), in his letter to the Sangguniang Panlungsod, said the water supply provided by PrimeWater-Baciwa has been consistently inadequate, with many areas experiencing frequent interruptions, low water pressure, and turbid or dirty water.

“The voluminous complaints from affected residents and businesses have fallen on deaf ears, and the problem persists,” Sancho stressed. “This is unacceptable and demands immediate attention” from the SP.

He asked the sanggunian to hold a public hearing and investigate the ability of PrimeWater-Baciwa to provide sufficient water supply to meet the demands of Bacolod’s growing population.

There is also a need to determine the measures taken to address the “consistent presence of turbid and dirty water in the distribution system.”

The group said the public hearing could be an opportunity for concerned citizens, businesses, and stakeholders to voice their concerns and demand accountability from PrimeWater-Baciwa.

“The lack of access to clean and potable water poses serious health risks and economic burdens on our communities,” Sancho said as he urged for an immediate action on the group’s concern. | CGC
