Around 200 delegates from transport cooperatives and corporations in the Visayas will gather in Bacolod City on Sept. 18 and 19 for a summit on the government’s Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP).
The two-day event, initiated by transport service Philippine Commercial Vehicle Show (PCVS), will be a continuation of gatherings initially held in Baguio City in March for the Luzon stakeholders, then in Pasay City in July. The last leg for the Mindanao attendees will be held in Zamboanga City in December.
Keynote speaker for the Bacolod event is Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC) executive director Reymundo D. J. De Guzman Jr., with Mayor Alfredo Benitez expected to also give his welcome remarks.
Updates on the PTMP, meanwhile, will be discussed by officials from the regional Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), Land Transportation Office, and Land Transportation Franchising and Regularity Board (LTFRB).
Land Bank and Development Bank of the Philippines executives will also discuss the financing schemes and assistance that transport coops and corporations could avail of in line with the PTMP.
The Visayas PTMP forum and fleet management academy will take centerstage on the second day, Sept. 19, with fleet managers, motorpool officers, and transport stakeholders as attendees, the organizer said.
LTFRB chairman Teofilo Guadiz III and Department of Transportation undersecretary Jesus Ferdinand Ortega will be among the guest speakers.
Officials from the LTFRB Western, Central, and Eastern Visayas are also expected to give updates during the morning session.
In the afternoon, presentations on “Safe and Efficient Tire Technology”, “Efficient Fleet Management with Technology”, and “Challenges and Risks of Logistics in the Philippines”, among others, are scheduled, as per the program of activities furnished the Negros Now Daily. There will also be exhibitors’ presentations and networking.
“Don’t miss this opportunity to stay ahead of the curve in fleet management and transport solutions,” the PCVS said as it encouraged those interested to register and join the two-day event.
