The Police Regional Office 6 reported that it has accounted for 27 violators of the Comelec gun ban in Western Visayas, as of Sept. 11.
Of the 27 violators, 25 are civilians and two are security guards.
P/Maj. Mary Grace Socorro Borio, regional police spokesperson, also reported that the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office has the most number of arrest with eight; Iloilo Police Provincial Office, five; Capiz PPO and the Iloilo City Police Office at four each; Bacolod City Police Office, three; Aklan PPO, two; and one arrest was made by the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6.
Seized from violators were 21 firearms and 10 bladed weapons.
In a statement, P/Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, regional police director, lauded the accomplishments of various police units in the enforcement of the Comelec gun ban in line with the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections on Oct. 30.
“As promised, we will be fast in dealing with persons who violate the law or commit misconducts,” Villaflor said./GB
