The Police Regional Office-Western Visayas reported a 23.74 percent reduction in the eight focus crimes in the first six months of the year.
These comprise murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping of motor vehicle and motorcycle theft.
The incidents went down from 1,428 last year to only 1,089 in the same period of 2024, according to a report of PRO-6.
PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, police regional director of Western Visayas, attributed the reduction of crime incidents to the collective efforts of the police, the local government units, the community and the other stakeholders.
“The police cannot do it alone. We achieved this because of your support and contribution. It is our goal that this descending trend will continue,” he said in a statement.
Wanky added that the PRO-6 will maintain the intensity of its campaign against all forms of illegal activities as he encouraged the continued support of the stakeholders in the region. | GB
