Princess Mae Marinay, representing Tribu Valmorados Lupidad, bested five other contestants and bagged the Pintaflores Festival Queen 2024 crown Nov. 2 at the city auditorium.
Marinay, a student of Central Philippines State University (CPSU) San Carlos campus, also won the Best Solo Performance, Best Group Performance, Best in Production Number, and Miss Photogenic minor awards, the city said Nov. 3.
Virgeria Mae Jagdon of Tribu Euzkara was first runner-up and Best Festival Queen Costume, while Julie Vie Bula from Tribu Sumilaw secured the second runner-up spot.
Consolation prizes were awarded to Dhlainedzy Bayotas of Tribu Busilak, Sanjay Mea Paradero of Tribu Bagnao Uno, and Sharalyn Joy Labrador of Lumad Sipawaynon, with the latter also awarded as Miss Professionalism.
Winners and minor awardees received cash prizes ranging from P5,000 to P20,000.
San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo also awarded P5,000 in cash to each contestant.
Executive assistant to the mayor, Airene Rose Gustilo, said in the city press release that the Pintaflores Festival is more than just a competition.
It is a vibrant celebration of the city’s culture, history, and artistry, she explained as she invited everyone to participate and enjoy the actual festival on Nov. 5.
Councilor Victoriana Cabili, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president Marydawn Cañetan, and barangay officials, among others, were also present during the event.
Meanwhile, six local costume designers showcased their creativity by crafting floral-themed outfits for dolls at the SCC Multi-Purpose Hall, Park Marina Nov. 1.
The winners, awarded during the Pintaflores Festival Queen grand coronation, were Jheorge Diaz as champion, who received P5,000 in cash prize; Angel Rubin, first runner-up, P4,000; and Janelan Illadora, who took home P3,000 as second runner-up.
Consolation prize winners Lawrence Amante, Bertha Rondovio, and Young Guzman received P1,000 each.
Tourism Operations Officer II Jennifer Paran said that dolls were chosen for the contest, instead of mannequins, since they’re aesthetically appealing on display. She said they plan to establish a display area for the dolls where the public can view them.
The contest depicted the Pintaflores Festival Queen’s vibrant costumes on elegantly-dressed dolls, showing stunning colorful designs and capturing the skills and ingenuity of local designers. ||
