2,422 cops vaccinated

          There are now 2,422 police personnel in Negros Occidental vaccinated against COVID-19, as of Oct. 17, the PNP Health Service said.

          Of the number, 1,783 are under the supervision of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, and 739 are assigned at the Bacolod City Police Office.

          It added that 432 NOCPPO and 47 BCPO personnel have yet to receive the vaccine.

          The PNP Health Service also said that 13,179 police officers and non-uniformed personnel have been vaccinated in Western Visayas.

          This constitutes 97.86 percent of PRO 6 personnel already inoculated, with 11,119 fully vaccinated and 2,060 who got the first dose.

          There are 192 still unvaccinated, and 96 with waivers, the report added.

          Of the vaccinated personnel, 1,191 are assigned at the Aklan PPO, Antique PPO – 952, Capiz PPO – 1,176, Guimaras PPO – 329, Iloilo City Police – 708, Iloilo PPO – 1,909, Regional Headquarters – 2,601, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 with 897. – GB

San Carlos policemen nab drug suspects

A 17-year-old female, monitored by the police to be engaged in the illegal drug trade, was arrested with a motorcycle driver in a checkpoint at the national highway in Barangay 2, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental Oct. 15.

Richard Salazar, 27, of Ylagan Street in Barangay 6, San Carlos City, and his minor female companion were riding in tandem at around 11:45 p.m., and attempted to evade the curfew checkpoint manned by the San Carlos City policemen.

San Carlos City policemen recovered suspected shabu, a gun, and ammunition from two drug suspects, who tried to evade arrest.

When policemen were able to stop them and they were frisked, five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, weighing about 40 grams and worth P272,000, drugs paraphernalia, a .45 caliber pistol with Serial No. 951483, a magazine for a .45 caliber pistol, and three live ammunition were recovered from them.

The police also seized a cellular phone, a red Rusi 125cc motorcycle, and a sling bag from the duo.

San Carlos police deputy for administration, P/Lt. Robi Aurita, said the minor was turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Office while Salazar was detained at the police custodial facility. – MML

3 arrested in buy-busts

Three persons were arrested in drug-bust operations in Bacolod City Saturday and Friday.

Police Station 6 operatives nabbed Dana Faye Salcedo, 31, and Allen Villagracia, 23, in a buy-bust operation in Purok Mabinuligon, Barangay 30, Bacolod City, Saturday.

Seized from them were six heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, weighing 13 grams and worth P88,400, marked money, and drug paraphernalia.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 6 and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Operatives inventory of items recovered in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. 30, Bacolod City Saturday, Oct. 16.

Kelvin Binas, 18, of Purok Bolinao, Barangay 1 in Bacolod City, was arrested by Police Station 5 operatives in a buy-bust operation Friday.

Recovered from him were 26 sachets of suspected shabu, weighing about six grams and worth P45,000, P500 in marked money, and a coin purse.

He is detained at PS5 and will be charged for anti-drug violation at the City Prosecutor’s Office today. –MML
