Leo Benes, 37, of Brgy. Mailum, Bago City, was found dead in Sitio Cabacahan, Brgy. Cabatangan in Talisay City, Negros Occidental Oct. 28.
Initial police investigations show that the lifeless body of Benes, already in the process of decomposition, was discovered inside a nipa hut, with an injury in the head.
A post-mortem examination on the cadaver has been requested by the Talisay City Police Station, to establish the real cause of his death./GB
4 persons nabbed
Four wanted persons, who have pending arrest warrants for various offenses, were arrested by the police Oct. 27 in Negros Occidental.
Ramon Salvador Rio, a 42-year-old laborer, was apprehended by the police in Brgy. Concepcion, Talisay City, by virtue of an arrest warrant for murder, issued by Bago Regional Trial Court Judge Frances Guanzon, who denied him bail.
Policemen also arrested Jan Bantillan, alias Jan Jan, in Sitio Tinuyukan, Barangay Marcelo, Calatrava, who was charged for violation of Republic Act 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
San Carlos RTC Judge Amy Alabado recommended bail of P80,000 for Bantillan, who is now locked up in jail.
Laborer Rogelio Jimenez, 51, was also nabbed for the crime of attempted homicide, in Brgy. Malingin, Bago City.
Bago Municipal Trial Court in Cities Judge Herminigildo Octaviano recommended bail of P12,000 for the provisional liberty of Jimenez.
Pontevedra Municipal Trial Court Judge Bienvenido Llanes also recommended an P18,000 bail for Jun Tayco, 22, who was arrested by the police Wednesday in Brgy. Antipolo, Pontevedra, for the crime of robbery. — GB
