A Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) unit was activated by the Philippine National Police, following the activation last week of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR).

It is composed of 684 police personnel, of which 47 are police commissioned officers.

The RMFB is a battalion-sized mobile reaction unit within police regional offices, tasked with internal security operations and reinforcing provincial, city, and municipal police units for public safety, law enforcement, and special operations.

The newly-activated PRO-NIR is headed by officer-in-charge, PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, who is also the police regional director of Western Visayas.

Under the new police organization, the PRO-NIR supervises the provincial police offices of Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental and Siquijor, as well as the Bacolod City Police Office.

Under the three provincial police offices, there are 56 component city and municipal police stations while BCPO supervises 10 police stations.

The regional offices of the Bureau of Fire and Protection and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology will soon to be activated as well, Interior and Local Government Undersecretary for Peace and Order Nestor Sanares earlier said. | GB
