Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. hailed the Philippine Normal University-Visayas (PNU-V) for its impressive feat in the March 2024 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).

The Cadiz-based school registered a 99.03 percent and 96 percent passing rates (all first-time takers) in the secondary and elementary levels, respectively.

This is something the local government can be proud of, the mayor said.

Alumnus Renante de la Torre Jr. placed 10th in the secondary level among the 85,980 total examinees.

A graduate of Bachelor in Mathematics Education in 2023, he garnered a rating of 90.80 percent.

“I am beyond happy to hear the latest LET results. I am grateful to the administration of PNU-V for being true to its commitment to producing the best teachers not just for Cadiz, but for the entire Negros Island or even the country,” Escalante said.

PNU-V was fourth among the top performing schools in the country in the secondary level with 100 to 299 examinees and recorded at least 92 percent passing percentage by having 105 passers out of 109 first-time and re-takes or an equivalent of 96.33 passing rate.

“It will mean more quality teachers in Negros Occidental ready to dwell on quality teaching with an aim to produce more quality learners in the future. Cadiz is proud to be one of the producers of these quality teachers,” Escalante said.

The Professional Regulation Commission also announced that PNU-Manila is now the number one performing school in the country in the secondary level in the category with 300 and more examinees, with at least 85 percent passing percentage by having 381 passers from its 385 total takers, which is equivalent to 98.96 percent rating.
