Three police sub-stations will be established in Talisay City, Negros Occidental to further ensure police visibility and crime deterrence, Mayor Rowena Lizares said on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

In an interview, Lizares said they are putting up police sub-stations in barangays of Dos Hermanas and Concepcion, which are heavily populated, and also along the national highway connected to Bacolod City.

She noted that there are many entry points in Talisay, with new express roads from Bacolod and Murcia passing the city.

“We will also tap force multipliers such as barangay tanods and members of Citizens Crime Watch to augment police personnel,” the mayor said.

Last month, five dead bodies were separately found in barangays of Concepcion, Matab-ang, and Dos Hermanas, with the identities of three of the five victims yet to be established by the police.

Lizares said she instructed the Talisay City police led by PLt. Col. Alvin Christopher Baybayan to further tighten security as they are celebrating the 26th Minulu-an Festival.

In the past several days of celebration, the mayor said they have not recorded any crime incident.

In her speech during the 26th Minulu-an Festival lunch at the Nature’s Village Resort, Lizares said Talisay has become a dynamic and thriving city, filled with promise and bustling with development, noting that it also embraces innovation while preserving its cultural roots

She also introduced the city’s new slogan, “TaliSay Yes!”, which she said represents a united call to action.

“If we come together as one, posible ang tanan nga handum para sa aton siudad,” Lizares added. | GB
