The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) Regional Office 6 and the Office of Bacolod City Lone District Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez have strengthened their collaboration to further advance the implementation of the Universal Health Care (UHC) Program in the city.

During a meeting on June 29, PhilHealth regional vice president Marjorie Cabrieto and Benitez, who is also the House Deputy Speaker, discussed strategies to improve access to quality primary healthcare services for Bacolod residents.

PhilHealth presented the current status of PhilHealth membership and Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) registration in Bacolod City as well as the ongoing initiatives to expand enrollment, facilitate the accreditation of YAKAP clinics, and conduct congressional caravans aimed at bringing healthcare services closer to communities.

One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the commitment of both parties to pursue the accreditation of 18 barangay health stations as YAKAP clinics, a move expected to strengthen the city’s primary healthcare network under the UHC program.

PhilHealth said it remains committed to strengthening its partnership with the Office of Congressman Benitez to ensure that every Bacolodnon has access to accessible, quality, and responsive healthcare services.

Also present during the meeting were PhilHealth Regional Office VI legal officer Atty. Dennis Guevara and Bacolod Local Health Insurance Office head Edgar Yocariza. | GPB
