Pharmacy student Rochelle Cabanyog, 20, was crowned as this year’s Sinigayan Queen of Sagay City in Negros Occidental after a three-hour pageant held at the public plaza March 17.
Cabanyog, representing Barangay Bulanon, bested 11 other candidates during the coronation night co-presented by the Sagay “Sigay” Jaycees. She is a pharmacy student from Riverside College in Bacolod.
Cameroon Padios of Brgy. Vito was crowned Sinigayan Queen-Tourism, while Therese Pira-an of Brgy. General Luna won as Sinigayan Queen-Charity.

Rose Landayao of Brgy. Old Sagay was 1st Princess while Saedelen Portunes of Poblacion 1 was hailed as 2nd Princess.
Cabanyog also bagged the awards for Best Swimwear, Gown, and Talent, while Padios took home the Best Festival Wear special prize.
Other special awards were Best in Production Number, won by Therese Peraan of Brgy. General Luna; Best in Festival Costume Design: Roger Pasilan for Padios; Best in Advocacy: Francine Rios of Fabrica, who advocated for urban gardening and marine resources preservation; and Best in Gown Design: Roger Pasilan for Sophia Charisse Canto of Brgy. Plaridel, the city said in a press release.
The pageant, one of the most anticipated events in the Sinigayan Festival, was attended by thousands of Sagaynons and revelers from nearby cities and towns. ||
