After it was upgraded into a department of the Negros Occidental provincial government, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) got an upgrade of P20.4-million worth of facilities, equipment and vehicles.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, assisted by PDRRMO head Irene Bel Ploteña, Sixth District Board Member Genaro Alvarez IV and Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II, led the blessing and inauguration rites at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.
With this development, the PDRRMO now features a state-of-the-art command center, logistics hub, and training facility.
Lacson said the upgraded PDRRMO facility will serve as a command center for coordination, strategy, and decisive action during emergencies while the new vehicles will enable responders to reach communities faster, especially those in remote and vulnerable areas.
He added that the updated equipment will enhance capabilities in search, rescue, relief, and recovery operations.
Diaz said the upgraded training center will serve as the primary hub for developing and updating the skills, knowledge, orientation, and values of DRRMO personnel and emergency medical technicians.
The center will accommodate not only PDRRMO personnel from the province, but also participants from local government units across the province and from other regions who wish to undergo training. ||
