PDRRMC logs P151.2-M damage to agriculture, fisheries, livestock

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) reported P151.279 million in losses to the agriculture sector caused by southwest monsoon enhanced by three tropical storms in Negros Occidental as of Monday (Sept. 23).

The bulk of the losses was in crops at P146.184 million, followed by livestock, P3.314 million, and fisheries, P1.7681 million.

Affected by the inclement weather were 207,197 persons in 261 barangays of 25 cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental.

Forty-six houses were destroyed while 989 were reported to have been partially damaged, with two casualties recorded by the PDRRMC.

States of calamity have been declared in the municipalities of San Enrique, Hinigaran and Valladolid as well as in La Carlota City. | GB
