PCG joins cleanup in Apo Island

Personnel from Coast Guard Station Negros Oriental (CGS NOR), led by its commander, Lt. Marionne Abigail Enopia, participated in a coastal cleanup in Sitio Kan-uran, Barangay Apo, within the Apo Island Protected Landscape and Seascape (AIPLS) in Dauin, Negros Oriental June 7.

The cleanup was part of the World Oceans Day 2025 observance, on the theme “Wonder: Sustaining what sustains us”, that was also participated in by concerned agencies and organizations.

Thirty sacks of assorted waste were collected along the coastline, reinforcing the shared commitment to environmental protection and marine conservation, the CGS NOR said.

This initiative highlights the importance of sustained collaboration between government agencies and local communities in preserving marine ecosystems, it added. “Coastal cleanup efforts not only help reduce marine pollution but also raise public awareness and foster a sense of shared responsibility in protecting our oceans as we work for a cleaner and healthier marine environment.” ||
