Central Philippine University is ISO accredited, which means that it adheres to internationally recognized standards for quality and excellence. Part of maintaining this accreditation is submitting to regular audits – processes where systems, records, and practices are reviewed to ensure everything aligns with standards.

Audits can be nerve-wracking, but they are necessary. They help us find weaknesses, improve systems, and confirm integrity.

In the same way, God calls us to a personal audit; not of our documents or procedures, but of our hearts and lives. Paul tells the church in Corinth: “Examine yourselves.” Are you truly in the faith? Are you walking with Christ? Are you growing in grace, or have you become complacent? Paul calls for a spiritual self-audit.

First, examine your faith.

In 2 Corinthians we can see that some Corinthian believers were externally religious but internally rebellious. They judged Paul but neglected their own spiritual condition.

Faith is not just belief in doctrine; it is trust in Jesus that changes how we live. Paul asks: “Is Christ in you?” That’s the real measure. A spiritual audit begins with checking whether your relationship with Jesus is alive and central.

A faith that cannot be tested is a faith that cannot be trusted.

Second, evaluate your fruit.

Matthew 7:17–20 says, “Every good tree bears good fruit…”

Jesus warned His followers to watch out for false prophets and self-deception. He taught that the fruit of one’s life reveals the root of one’s heart.

Your fruit reveals your foundation. If bitterness, pride, or laziness is growing, it is time to return to Christ and cultivate the right soil. A healthy tree bears fruit even in challenging seasons.

Third, align with God’s standards.

Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

Paul urges believers in Rome not to adopt the standards of the culture around them, but to be renewed in mind and spirit according to God’s will.

The Bible is our audit checklist. It reveals where we need correction and confirms when we are aligned. The Word of God is both the audit manual and the tool for renewal.

Conformity to Christ is the goal of every spiritual audit. | NWI
