Pamilya Ko Partylist first nominee, Atty. Anel Diaz, and his team made the rounds in Bacolod City March 3 to present their political platform and advocacy in the runup to the May 12 midterm elections.

Diaz, Top 1 in the 2003 Bar examinations, met with drivers, residents of various barangays, and local political leaders to discuss the core advocacy of his party, which is to push for the rights and protection of the modern Filipino family.

These include the live-in and OFW parents, victims of domestic abuse, adoptive, blended, and LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual and Other Non-Heterosexual People) families, the elderly and extended families, and single or solo parents.

Diaz said the neophyte partylist group is pushing for equal rights for legal and illegitimate children, especially over inheritance issue; the protection and rights of live-in and LGBTQIA+ couples; to legitimize surrogacy; and for more livelihood and other assistance for OFWs, their families, the victims of spousal abandonment, and the elderly.

“Every form of family is deserving of the same, equal treatment that we deserve under the law,” Diaz stressed in an interview, adding that this is what Pamilya Ko Partylist is advocating for.

“Iba-iba man ang ating background, experiences, or station in life, what we have in common is a family that we go home to, care for, and love. (And our group) Pamilya Ko ang nag-iisang partylist na nagsusulong sa mga interes at pangangailangan ng mga iba’t-ibang anyo ng modernong pamilyang Pilipino,” he added. | CGC
